Human Rights Violations in Kachin State and Northern Shan State. January to June 2026
As we mark the 27th anniversary of the founding of the Kachin Women’s Association Thailand (KWAT) in 1999, we would like to take this opportunity to share six months of data on human rights violations and draw your attention to the ongoing and deeply concerning human rights situation in Kachin areas, where intensified armed conflict continues to place civilians at grave risk of human rights violations, including arbitrary arrest, torture, attacks on civilians and civilian property, displacement, and other serious abuses. We, KWAT, urge the international community to pay greater attention to the situation and take concrete action to protect civilians, support affected communities, and hold perpetrators accountable.
